Any little bit helps

On July 23 my friend Ha lost her husband Jason. He leaves behind their four year old son, Nathan and another on the way.

A go fund me page was set up to help Ha with the expenses of raising Nathan and her unborn baby.

It would really mean a lot if you would like to make a donation. Any little bit helps.

Another empty

Finished another sample. I'm making an effort to try to use some products that I've had for a while before adding to my hoard.

This one is Pores No More by Dr. Brandt. I got it in an Ipsy bag a while back. This product reduces the visibility of pores. It can be worn under foundation or on it's own.

Would I buy it again? Possibly. It did what it promised, but I haven't used too many other pore minimizing products to have a favorite.

In with the new: I couldn't resist

I went on another little bender at Ulta again.

I got the Pro Contour palette by Lorac. I had told myself I didn't need this. I have loads of bronzers and highlighting products for contouring and highlighting. But since I've been watching Ghost Adventures on YouTube I kept seeing adverts for the contouring palette and I had to make it mine.

The other product I got was the blending crease brush by It Cosmetics. I was in search of a blending brush. It's so fluffy and soft. I know this will be my new favorite eye brush.

RIP Nyx Mosaic Powder

I finally finished my Nyx Mosaic Powder in Cafe.

I got this in an Ipsy bag about 2 years ago. I used this for contouring. This was definitely my gateway bronzer for purchasing other bronzers.

You will be missed... But replaced...

First Colourpop purchase

Received my first order from Colourpop today.

I couldn't decide what to get. I wanted everything. So many gorgeous colours I didn't know where to start!

I narrowed it down to the Lippie Pencil and Stix in Brink and Tootsi, as well Super Shock blushes in Between the Sheets and Most Necessary.

Can't wait to try them!

I needed this in my life

I was so excited when Real Techniques released their Bold Metals collection. They're all so gorgeous. After some time I finally broke down and got the tapered blush brush. I love the rose gold handle! Now I guess I have to get the rest of the collection.

Keep Calm and Swatch

Here are swatches of the three Rimmel's Keep Calm and Lip Balms. I went to the other Wal Mart in my city and they were still $2.50 as opposed to the location near where I live they were 40¢.

On the far left is Keep Calm and Kiss, Keep Calm and Play in the middle, and Keep Calm and Party on the far right. Gotta love the packaging.

They are all very sheer. Perfect for those days when I want to put something on my lips, but lipstick seems like too much.

Oh ship!

Why is it that every time my dad orders something from Amazon he will literally receive it the next day when choosing the free shipping option, and I'm lucky if I receive it within the estimated time?

This was more of a steal than a haul

My local Wal-Mart had Rimmel's recently released in the US Keep Calm and Lip Balm lip balms. I saw these when I was in the UK. I had my eye on them, but didn't get any because lip balm wasn't a priority buy when I went completely mental in Boots.

I saw these for the first time a few weeks ago and I wanted them all! But at $2.50 each I couldn't justify buying the whole collection in one go. I settled for Keep Calm and Kiss.

Yesterday I took a peek at Rimmel at my local Wal-Mart and could not believe these were signed at 40¢! What?! After I scanned them I went back and got one more of each! I only picked up Keep Calm and Kiss, Keep Calm and Play and Keep Calm and Party because they were more eye catching than the others.

Unvelievable!

Dollar Tree haul

Decided to give the L.A. Colors eyeliner and under eye treatment by Skin Nutritions.

Not much to lose.

Beauty secrets of the rich and ridiculously beautiful

I saw a segment of Dr. Oz yesterday. Someone revealed celebrity beauty secrets.

Supposedly Jennifer Aniston puts petroleum jelly under her eyes for lines. I tried that before bed last night. Couldn't stop touching under my eyes.

I now have mayonaisse on my hair. Forgot which famous person swears by this, but I think I'm going to throw up.

Ulta haul

I went into Ulta for one item and somehow mysteriously left with three.

I went in for eyeliner. Luckily I left with my intended purpose. I swatched different ones, both drugstore and prestige brands. I loved Stila's kajal liner. It went on smooth and seemed as though it would be perfect to achieve clean lines. I didn't not select this one because even after it was on my hand for a few minutes it smeared right off. I selected Tres Jolie gel pencil liner by Nyx. It was $11.99 so I was able to use the $3.50 off $10 voucher available on their website. And, of all the "waterproof" liners I searched on my hand, this was the only one that didn't seem to budge when I tried to wipe it off.

I very rarely purchase prestige brand cosmetics. But today I found some I couldn't live without.

I got Tarte's amazonian clay lipstick in Poppy. An perfect poppy red shade. I had to have it. I know this will be a staple in my summer makeup routine. Swatch and rewiew to come later.

I've been obsessed with achieving full lips lately. I've tried lip plumping devices as well as cinnamon. Too Faced's Lip Injection Extreme. Definitely caught my eye. I tried some on. It did sting, but it wasn't unbearable. After a few minutes my lips were visably fuller. Unlike the original Lip Injection, Lip Injection Extreme claims it will create fuller lips over time. I hope so. Will post pictures and any progress soon.

Search of the perfect eyeliner

I am in search of the perfect eyeliner for summer. I've revisited some old ones I've had and it's no wonder I haven't used them, especially during another insufferable SoCal summer.

I've had Define-a-line by Maybelline for a while and haven't used it. I find that it is not easy to apply. It's a bit "chunky" and harsh. Great if your looking for a smoked, smudged look, but not so great if you're looking for clean lines. When I revisited this one, I wanted a simple line on my upperlash line. I noticed that  at some point during the day my line ended up in the crease of my eyelids. Gross.

More recently I purchased exaggerate by Rimmel. I read great reviews about it, but I was disappointed. Although I found it easy to apply, I had the same problem as Define-a-line; the liner ended up in my cease.

At first I liked Scandaleyes by Rimmel. It is a felt tip, but it seemed like it dried out too quickly.

I've been using Rimmel's gel liner. This seems to be the only one I own that doesn't melt into my crease. But as a novice in liner application, I find it difficult to get even lines on both lids.

What are your favorites? Got any to recommend? Let me know!

Second completed mason jar

This is the serving mason jar I've finished revamping. Decided to use this one to store ChapStick's.

This little piggy mason jar

This is the first of my completed mason jars.

I got this idea from a YouTube video.

I spray painted the lid and a plastic pig figurine with Krylon spray paint in Watermelon pink then glued the figurine to the lid.

I love this for storage and decor.

Unwanted post

Last week I got a card in the post from my aunt. I didn't read all of it because I couldn't read her writing, but the bit I did read crossed a line and made me feel violated.

She said she's worried about me because I am no longer in graduate school and went as far into suggesting that I study hospital administration.

I feel that she violated a boundary. We're not that close. She doesn't know what's going on in my life. She didn't know me.

I get it that she cares and is concerned about my future, but I don't think it's her place to tell me how to live my life.

The graduate program I was in was not for me. It was my intention to complete the program, but due to unforseen circumstances such as the university employing former peers who were caught plagiarizing over me, that was the nail in the coffin.

I knew for a while that the course of study wasn't for me. But no one sees it that way. It's like no one wants what's best for me. It's like everyone wants me to go to school, get a job I don't care about and live the rest of my life sad and alone until I either drink myself to death or die of misery. But that's life, I guess.

Newest obsession: Mason jars

I know, I'm late to the party on this trend too. But recently I have become obsessed with mason jars.

It all started with a YouTube video and I had to try my hand at a little DIY. Unlike most of my attempts at crafts, it actually came out as planned. I had to make more.

What I love about mason jars is the DIY possibilities are endless and they can be used for anything, not just for their intended purpose. And they're super affordable. All mine were either purchased at Dollar Tree, 99¢ Only Stores, or they were 2 for 1 at Michael's.

Can't wait to start showing them off.

Noise

Late night. Can't sleep. Overwhelmed with the thought of tomorrow. Brain going a hundred miles a minute. It won't slow down. I'm fighting sleep add my brain won't stop. Not even coherent thoughts. It's a mess in there. Fragmented thoughts all trying to surface at the same time. All screaming like trying to be heard over one another, but no one is heard. Just noise.
