Decisions, Decisions...

Spent a day trying on glasses. Didn't really find anything I was 100% sold on. The picture is of the two pairs I narrowed it down. I went with the bottom pair. I wanted something different.

I've had glasses for over 10 years and still can't get used to wearing them.

Hopefully these will work out and not get lost.

Any little bit helps

On July 23 my friend Ha lost her husband Jason. He leaves behind their four year old son, Nathan and another on the way.

A go fund me page was set up to help Ha with the expenses of raising Nathan and her unborn baby.

It would really mean a lot if you would like to make a donation. Any little bit helps.

Another empty

Finished another sample. I'm making an effort to try to use some products that I've had for a while before adding to my hoard.

This one is Pores No More by Dr. Brandt. I got it in an Ipsy bag a while back. This product reduces the visibility of pores. It can be worn under foundation or on it's own.

Would I buy it again? Possibly. It did what it promised, but I haven't used too many other pore minimizing products to have a favorite.

In with the new: I couldn't resist

I went on another little bender at Ulta again.

I got the Pro Contour palette by Lorac. I had told myself I didn't need this. I have loads of bronzers and highlighting products for contouring and highlighting. But since I've been watching Ghost Adventures on YouTube I kept seeing adverts for the contouring palette and I had to make it mine.

The other product I got was the blending crease brush by It Cosmetics. I was in search of a blending brush. It's so fluffy and soft. I know this will be my new favorite eye brush.

RIP Nyx Mosaic Powder

I finally finished my Nyx Mosaic Powder in Cafe.

I got this in an Ipsy bag about 2 years ago. I used this for contouring. This was definitely my gateway bronzer for purchasing other bronzers.

You will be missed... But replaced...

First Colourpop purchase

Received my first order from Colourpop today.

I couldn't decide what to get. I wanted everything. So many gorgeous colours I didn't know where to start!

I narrowed it down to the Lippie Pencil and Stix in Brink and Tootsi, as well Super Shock blushes in Between the Sheets and Most Necessary.

Can't wait to try them!

I needed this in my life

I was so excited when Real Techniques released their Bold Metals collection. They're all so gorgeous. After some time I finally broke down and got the tapered blush brush. I love the rose gold handle! Now I guess I have to get the rest of the collection.

Keep Calm and Swatch

Here are swatches of the three Rimmel's Keep Calm and Lip Balms. I went to the other Wal Mart in my city and they were still $2.50 as opposed to the location near where I live they were 40¢.

On the far left is Keep Calm and Kiss, Keep Calm and Play in the middle, and Keep Calm and Party on the far right. Gotta love the packaging.

They are all very sheer. Perfect for those days when I want to put something on my lips, but lipstick seems like too much.

Oh ship!

Why is it that every time my dad orders something from Amazon he will literally receive it the next day when choosing the free shipping option, and I'm lucky if I receive it within the estimated time?

This was more of a steal than a haul

My local Wal-Mart had Rimmel's recently released in the US Keep Calm and Lip Balm lip balms. I saw these when I was in the UK. I had my eye on them, but didn't get any because lip balm wasn't a priority buy when I went completely mental in Boots.

I saw these for the first time a few weeks ago and I wanted them all! But at $2.50 each I couldn't justify buying the whole collection in one go. I settled for Keep Calm and Kiss.

Yesterday I took a peek at Rimmel at my local Wal-Mart and could not believe these were signed at 40¢! What?! After I scanned them I went back and got one more of each! I only picked up Keep Calm and Kiss, Keep Calm and Play and Keep Calm and Party because they were more eye catching than the others.

Unvelievable!

Dollar Tree haul

Decided to give the L.A. Colors eyeliner and under eye treatment by Skin Nutritions.

Not much to lose.

Beauty secrets of the rich and ridiculously beautiful

I saw a segment of Dr. Oz yesterday. Someone revealed celebrity beauty secrets.

Supposedly Jennifer Aniston puts petroleum jelly under her eyes for lines. I tried that before bed last night. Couldn't stop touching under my eyes.

I now have mayonaisse on my hair. Forgot which famous person swears by this, but I think I'm going to throw up.

Ulta haul

I went into Ulta for one item and somehow mysteriously left with three.

I went in for eyeliner. Luckily I left with my intended purpose. I swatched different ones, both drugstore and prestige brands. I loved Stila's kajal liner. It went on smooth and seemed as though it would be perfect to achieve clean lines. I didn't not select this one because even after it was on my hand for a few minutes it smeared right off. I selected Tres Jolie gel pencil liner by Nyx. It was $11.99 so I was able to use the $3.50 off $10 voucher available on their website. And, of all the "waterproof" liners I searched on my hand, this was the only one that didn't seem to budge when I tried to wipe it off.

I very rarely purchase prestige brand cosmetics. But today I found some I couldn't live without.

I got Tarte's amazonian clay lipstick in Poppy. An perfect poppy red shade. I had to have it. I know this will be a staple in my summer makeup routine. Swatch and rewiew to come later.

I've been obsessed with achieving full lips lately. I've tried lip plumping devices as well as cinnamon. Too Faced's Lip Injection Extreme. Definitely caught my eye. I tried some on. It did sting, but it wasn't unbearable. After a few minutes my lips were visably fuller. Unlike the original Lip Injection, Lip Injection Extreme claims it will create fuller lips over time. I hope so. Will post pictures and any progress soon.

Search of the perfect eyeliner

I am in search of the perfect eyeliner for summer. I've revisited some old ones I've had and it's no wonder I haven't used them, especially during another insufferable SoCal summer.

I've had Define-a-line by Maybelline for a while and haven't used it. I find that it is not easy to apply. It's a bit "chunky" and harsh. Great if your looking for a smoked, smudged look, but not so great if you're looking for clean lines. When I revisited this one, I wanted a simple line on my upperlash line. I noticed that  at some point during the day my line ended up in the crease of my eyelids. Gross.

More recently I purchased exaggerate by Rimmel. I read great reviews about it, but I was disappointed. Although I found it easy to apply, I had the same problem as Define-a-line; the liner ended up in my cease.

At first I liked Scandaleyes by Rimmel. It is a felt tip, but it seemed like it dried out too quickly.

I've been using Rimmel's gel liner. This seems to be the only one I own that doesn't melt into my crease. But as a novice in liner application, I find it difficult to get even lines on both lids.

What are your favorites? Got any to recommend? Let me know!

Second completed mason jar

This is the serving mason jar I've finished revamping. Decided to use this one to store ChapStick's.

This little piggy mason jar

This is the first of my completed mason jars.

I got this idea from a YouTube video.

I spray painted the lid and a plastic pig figurine with Krylon spray paint in Watermelon pink then glued the figurine to the lid.

I love this for storage and decor.

Wednesday- Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 12, Revlon Super Lusturous Lipstick in Wine With Everything

Unwanted post

Last week I got a card in the post from my aunt. I didn't read all of it because I couldn't read her writing, but the bit I did read crossed a line and made me feel violated.

She said she's worried about me because I am no longer in graduate school and went as far into suggesting that I study hospital administration.

I feel that she violated a boundary. We're not that close. She doesn't know what's going on in my life. She didn't know me.

I get it that she cares and is concerned about my future, but I don't think it's her place to tell me how to live my life.

The graduate program I was in was not for me. It was my intention to complete the program, but due to unforseen circumstances such as the university employing former peers who were caught plagiarizing over me, that was the nail in the coffin.

I knew for a while that the course of study wasn't for me. But no one sees it that way. It's like no one wants what's best for me. It's like everyone wants me to go to school, get a job I don't care about and live the rest of my life sad and alone until I either drink myself to death or die of misery. But that's life, I guess.

Newest obsession: Mason jars

I know, I'm late to the party on this trend too. But recently I have become obsessed with mason jars.

It all started with a YouTube video and I had to try my hand at a little DIY. Unlike most of my attempts at crafts, it actually came out as planned. I had to make more.

What I love about mason jars is the DIY possibilities are endless and they can be used for anything, not just for their intended purpose. And they're super affordable. All mine were either purchased at Dollar Tree, 99¢ Only Stores, or they were 2 for 1 at Michael's.

Can't wait to start showing them off.

Noise

Late night. Can't sleep. Overwhelmed with the thought of tomorrow. Brain going a hundred miles a minute. It won't slow down. I'm fighting sleep add my brain won't stop. Not even coherent thoughts. It's a mess in there. Fragmented thoughts all trying to surface at the same time. All screaming like trying to be heard over one another, but no one is heard. Just noise.

Contour and highlight palette from Wish.com

I've been meaning to purchase a contour and highlight palette since contouring is all the rage. I have been using bronzers and really light concealers; they did the trick alright, but I needed a palette in my life.

I've had my eye on a few from well known brands, but I'm on a budget. Lately I've been buying things from wish.com. For someone on a budget, having the convenience of buying unnecessary things on the cheap isn't such a bright idea. I can go on a complete bender on their app with just a few taps. They have contour palettes from a range of prices. So at $3 I have nothing to lose.
This is a 15-color contour and highlight palette that comes in a range of colors that can be used to match just about any skin tone and manipulate the harshness or subtlety of your countour.

Lips of the week

My name is Kim and I'm addicted to lipstick.

And I've decided to show off my continuously growing collection/hoard. My favorites will be pretty obvious. When one is welcomed to my inner circle and I love it, I tend to wear it quite often.

This week's showcase:
Sunday: Nyx Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose (day); Nyx Doll (evening)
Monday: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 107
Tuesday: Wet n Wild in Think Pink
Wednesday: Nyx Pink Lyric
Thursday: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 14
Friday: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 14
Saturday: Rimmel Lasting Finish by Kate Moss in 107

Brush Bath Day!

I try to wash my brushes once a week. But sometimes I can't be bothered. Brush bath day forces me to use my less favorite brushes. This past week I used my favorite set, Real Techniques. Everyone I know rants and raves about how awesome they are. Long story short, they are as awesome as everyone says! My new favorite is the retractable kabuki. I love using it with my finishing powder. This probably isn't a plus, but I find myself playing with it; I really hope I don't ruin it, but knowing me I will.

Airplanes In The Night Sky

When I take my dogs out at night I find myself staring up at the night sky. At the stars and airplanes. I wonder where the airplanes are going. I wonder if any are on their way to London. Take me to London. I want to go back. Take me away from this cesspool and the monotonous series of insignificant events I call my life. Tonight there was a large, glittering star. Hanging up there "like a diamond in the sky". In an instant childhood rhymes and songs resurfaced. A little moment of nostalgia. And I made a wish. I may be jaded and pessimistic about the world, but I still have a particle of hope and wonder that still allows me to make wishes and believe that good does exist in the world. I wonder if he sees my star too. I wonder if he makes wishes. I wonder what he wished for. I can't tell you what I wish for; they say if you tell it won't come true; I don't wish and tell. I stood there thinking that under the same sky my star shines for us as he gets up to begin his Monday and I crawl into my uncomfortable bed to end my Sunday.

Sunday

Ghost Adventures is now on Netflix. For once I'm not working late on a Sunday evening. So I'm spending my evening on the sofa with my four-legged fur baby. He's protecting me from Ghost Adventures.

I hope I don't get nightmares. Rocky will protect me.

Selfie stick

After making fun of other tourists in London for having selfie sticks, I finally decided to invest in one. It took me a while to get the hang of it. When I first used it the shutter button zoomed in instead of snapping a picture, but after messing around with my camera settings I got the shutter button to do what it's supposed to. Now I've got to get the hang of taking selfies without moving my arm when I press the shutter button.

I don't claim to have woken up like this, nor do I claim the use of any filters

After nearly a year, I decided it was time to cut my hair. I didn't realize how long it got until the last time I was bothered to straighten it.

It's time for me to start over and I'm starting with my hair.

Latest makeup bender

I've calmed down with my makeup benders lately. I've managed to stay away from Ulta and other shops that offer my drugs of choice. Last Wednesday I attended a makeup workshop. It was a nice refresher especially for some techniques I've become rusty on; and I also learned some new things that I have decided to try.

Nyx Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in CJ05 Medium
The workshop demonstrated contouring which is something I do on a daily basis. I have seen it done with cremes as well a powder products. I had only used power products for a contour. The instructor used a creme. I noticed that the creme products blended more easily and gave a more natural finish. I was in search of something inexpensive in a creme product. I decided to try Nyx Above & Beyond Concealer in medium. So far I like it. It's not as dark as I'd like for a contour but it's nice for when I want to go for something less harsh.

Nyx Above & Beyond Full Coverage Concealer in CJ10 Yellow
I've been meaning to try this product for some time. It's great for covering up spots and blemishes.

Nyx Matte Lipstick in Tea Rose
This was completely unnecessary. But I can't have enough lipsticks. A lovely rosy pink. Great for everyday use.

Elf High Definition Powder
The instructor ranted and raved about finishing powder. I decided to give the Elf finishing powder since it is within my budget. I was reluctant to try it; I've heard mixed reviews. Many reviewers said that this product left a white, cakey finish. I love love love this product. I've noticed that since I started using this product that my face isn't as oily. I can get through a work day without looking sweaty and no need for a touch up on my breaks! This is definitely my new go to!

Real Techniques Retractable Kabuki Brush
I got this to use with the finishing powder. I love it.

Real Techniques Beauty Blender
I've finally jumped on the beauty blender bandwagon. I didn't intend to get this but Ulta had RT products BOGO half off. So why not? I like this for blending my contour and highlight.

Maybelline Brow Drama
I haven't used this yet. I've heard great things. Trying to use up some of my brow pencils. I'll keep you posted.

Craft fail

This happens a lot. I see a project, whether it be on TV or YouTube and decide I want to give it a try.

This time I saw some diy room decor ideas. The vlogger made everything look so easy with a cute end product.

I tired to make her trinket bowls and animal mason jars. The bowls were an epic fail. I really didn't want to buy any more paint so at first I tried to paint basic, glazed cereal bowls with acrylic paint, not considering the fact that acrylic paint won't stick to the glazed surface. So I tired again with spray paint. It worked but I sorta messed up. Some bits came out thicker than others, and when I peeled off the tape the paint came off with it. 👏

The mason jar actually came out cute. I will try to do a few more. Will post the finished product later.

Can't win 'em all.

What am I?

I've always wanted to have a fashion/ beauty blog. But that's not exactly me. I follow such girls on various social media platforms and envy from them from afar. They style perfect outfits and their makeup perfectly applied. I can't call myself a style guru. My biggest fashion decision on a daily basis is which $5 Old Navy tee will I put on today. And although I love makeup, I can't seem to get my eyeliner "on pointe". I love fashion and beauty, but I like to put my own spin on things. What I've learned over the years is just be yourself. There will be people who don't like what that means, but they are all idiots and can go kick rocks.

A blog no one will ever read

Spent like an hour thinking of a blog name. Now I don't know what to post. Life is hard. Kidding. If your biggest problem is deciding a blog name, then I'm guessing you have a pretty sweet life.

Not really sure why I've finally started a blog. I know one will read it. I'm not one of those people who can captivate an audience. When I say things, I often have to say things a few times before someone hears, and even then I'll often still go unheard, wondering if I'm invisible.

It doesn't matter if anyone ever reads my posts, I just want a forum where I can express myself.

Thank you.
